Tom and Lee Detwiler Student Teaching Education Scholarship

Criteria:

Recipient must be majoring in Education and have passed Intro to Teaching and Educational Psychology. Recipient must also have successfully completed the Praxis exam and hold a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recipient should be in his/her student teaching semester. Two awards (including the Tom & Lee Detwiler Student Teaching Annual Scholarship), one per semester.

Tom taught English at Plattsmouth, Grand Island and the UNL Extension Division before moving to Chadron in 1965. As a faculty member of the CSC Education Dept. for 30 years, he taught secondary methods, graduate courses, supervised student teachers, and also served several years as Director of Student Teaching and Chairman of Education. Lee graduated from Grand Island Business College and later began work on a business degree from CSC, leading to a license as a Real Estate Broker. This scholarship will cover 50% of the tuition of your professional semester course work.
