Criteria:

The recipient shall show academic promise in order to pursue a college degree in Physics, Mathematics, or other related areas.

Marle D. Smith was born in Alliance, Neb. He received a bachelor of science and a master's degree from Chadron State College. He also attended Michigan State University and Colorado State University. Mr. Smith taught for 24 years at CSC as an associate professor of physics. He was elected as the president of Lambda Delta Lambda National Science Honor Society twice. He also received the honor of POW of Germany after being shot down on a bombing mission.
